What is ABLOY premium experience?

Jari Myyry

Premium experience is one of four ABLOY brand cornerstones – but what does it mean? Let’s hear what ABLOY Quality Manager Jari Myyry has to say about the quality of our products and solutions.

”What is premium quality?” is a familiar question for Jari Myyry. He is responsible for quality improvement and development as well as quality reporting of solutions and products.

”If a service or a product meets all its requirements, you can say it is of premium quality. Quality can be detected in durability, usability, and friendly service, for example. For a product to be of premium quality the entire life cycle of it must be inspected from design to usage,” Myyry summarises.

Commitment is key in developing premium products for customers

Expectations of customers guide the design of ABLOY solutions at every stage of product development. Abloy Oy works closely with customers to make sure that solutions and services meet all necessary requirements.

“A few decades ago, quality control was done by inspecting the quality of an end product. Then statistical process control was introduced. Today, we take in account everything starting from product development through the entire manufacturing processes to the finished product,” says Myyry.

Delivering premium experience requires commitment from the entire organisation. This can be called quality morale, which means doing the right thing at both individual and corporate level.

”Quality morale is the inner voice that tells us what to do and alerts us if we are acting against our ethics. Organisations with high quality morale do not allow wrong actions to be done when designing and delivering solutions for customers,” Myyry explains.

More information on quality control and development

  • We use statistical process control (SPC) to monitor and improve the quality of manufacturing processes. Statistical methods are used to continuously improve production, for example by collecting data and identifying deviations.
  • During the product development phase, we utilise operating models based on Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) as well as self-developed quality planning tools and methods.
  • In order to ensure premium performance within our manufacturing processes, we use an approval process that is closely integrated into our product development process. This way we ensure that quality control during production is carefully planned and the proper standards are met both within our own as well as in our suppliers’ production.
  • We need to be prepared for challenges – that's why we have a special problem-solving process that allows us to tackle challenges at an early stage if necessary.
