"From the very beginning, working at Abloy felt like coming home"
When Anne Salmensuo started at Abloy in a one-year fixed-term position as a series designer, she immediately felt she had found the right place.
"From the very beginning, it felt like coming home. I really enjoyed it, and just a week in, I told my supervisor at the time that I was here to stay," Anne says.
Her wishes were heard, and the fixed-term contract soon turned into a permanent position. That marked the beginning of a career that has now lasted over eleven years—and is still going strong.
Organizing international customer trainings
Today, Anne works as a Training Coordinator at ABLOY ACADEMY, which is Abloy’s training service for both domestic and international distributors.
"My workdays are very diverse. I’m responsible for organizing and coordinating all our customer trainings, both in Finland and abroad," Anne explains.
Abloy supports employee development
What Anne values most at Abloy are the opportunities for growth and expanding her expertise.
"This is a large organization, and depending on your interests and enthusiasm, you can work in different departments. There are few places that offer such a wide range of job opportunities as we do."
Developing her own skills is important to Anne. She has participated in EF’s language training to improve her English and is currently studying work and organizational psychology alongside her job. "Abloy supports employee development very well," Anne says.
Anne also recognizes the career paths available: "If you're interested in an international career, you can apply for positions within the ASSA ABLOY Group, which Abloy is part of."
Flexible work culture builds a good work-life balance
A flexible work culture also helps maintain a good work-life balance.
"I have flexible working hours and work in a hybrid model. Remote work allows me to work, for example, surrounded by nature—which is very important to me."
Nature plays a big role in Anne’s life. She enjoys hiking and camping, and she has set herself a unique goal: to visit all 41 national parks in Finland.
"Hiking and camping are my favorite hobbies. I’m on a mission to visit every one of Finland’s 41 national parks."
Long careers show that people are happy in their jobs
According to Anne, a like-minded team and a supportive work community also contribute to job satisfaction.
"We have a really great team, and there are many like-minded people here—people you could even go hiking with."
Many at Abloy have long careers, and Anne believes that’s a sign people genuinely enjoy their work and workplace.
"There are many long-term employees at Abloy, and I think that shows people are happy in their jobs."
Even after more than a decade, Anne looks to the future with confidence.
"I see my future at Abloy in a very positive light. I hope to continue working with my wonderful colleagues and to keep deepening my expertise," Anne says.
