EG.D operates electricity and gas distribution grids in the southern regions of the Czech Republic. The company brings electricity over 2.7 million people. Its gas grid covers a slightly smaller area supplying gas to about 600.000 people. As part of critical infrastructure, all processes must go on 24/7 – without interruptions.

EG.D oversees the operations, maintenance, development, and management of electrical and gas assets of the distribution grid. It distributes electricity in South Bohemia, South Moravia, and gas mainly in South Bohemia.
Every vital piece of equipment must be secured, and all solutions must meet existing industry and safety standards. All EG.D’s high voltage substations are operated from afar. In the last years, EG.D uses card readers in this substation remote to allow access for employees and maintenance. An industry-specific challenge is that the electric grids should be built to last a lifetime – 40 years being the industry standard. ABLOY components are an integral part of ensuring EG.D’s equipment, grid facilities, storage, and substation safety. EG.D is employing the ABLOY PROTEC2 locking system in cabinet locks, panic bars, cam locks, door closers, padlocks and door cylinders. Other ASSA ABLOY group’s products, such as key cards, card readers and key deposits provide access for some of EG.D’s sites.
