The agenda of the meeting was to feedback regarding their international assignments, meet the local management team, carry out networking and attended a training session on communication styles and profiling. “Land of thousands of lakes and the midnight sun” “5.5 million citizens and 2 million saunas – all the Finnish people could fit in a sauna at the same time in Finland” These Finnish specialties were on everyone’s lips, when the 29 graduates landed in Joensuu for the 2-day meeting. The graduates surely enjoyed the midnight sun – a never ending day in the middle of the summer in Finland. During the first day each Graduate presented the Graduate Experience with a focus on their three months placement and plans for the next 9 months before completing the programme. In addition to the presentations, Graduates visited the ABLOY Factory. The second day was made up of a training session to support the Graduate’s personal development. Graduates have just finished their international assignment all over the EMEA Division and after going through the international secondment together, the graduates were tied together by the common experience. It was also noticed by the VP Human Resources EMEA, Allan Cooper: “The development within the group was really significant from when I had first met them last year in Berlin. Overall the presentations were engaging, adding real value to the business and aligned with a lot of key strategic initiatives of ASSA ABLOY.” Secondment presentations were a great opportunity to hear about the graduates experiences, key take-aways and how we can further enhance the programme for future intakes. “You can adjust to working and living in any place in the world, in different surroundings with both good and bad things, as long as you are committed to your purpose”, says Alexandra Laibăr, Marketing Graduate from ASSA ABLOY Romania. And the learning experiences were considered to be by far the best part of the meeting. Also getting to know ABLOY Oy and visiting the factory site was highly appreciated by the graduates. “Arriving at ABLOY felt like arriving at someone’s home with all the nice smiling welcoming employees. I was impressed by the clean organized spaces and attention to details in the employees` working environment”, continues Alexandra. How about Joensuu as a meeting venue for the second Graduate meeting? “Joensuu – it might not be a big town, but surely feels like a magic one, hidden in the green woods”, says Alexandra. The next step for the programme is the graduation event, which is planned for May 2019 in London, UK. The rest is for the participants to make the most of the experiences they have had during the 18-month period and use them to have a fulfilling career within ASSA ABLOY.
