Abloy Oy has been awarded the ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certification for information security management. It supports Abloy’s strong growth as a provider of digital locking solutions.
The quality assurance company DNV GL has awarded Abloy Oy the ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certificate. Abloy’s certification covers the company’s locking and access control systems and related services in terms of information security. Geographically, it includes the company’s Finnish sites in Joensuu, Espoo and Björkboda. The certification is valid until 31 October 2020.
“With the certificate, Abloy proves that the company adheres to the best practices of the standard. The ISO 27001 standard responds quite well to the requirements, giving the organization using it a good starting point for fulfilling the legally binding obligations of the new EU Data Protection Regulation,” explains DNV GL’s Technical Manager Kimmo Haarala.
ISO 27001 is an internationally recognised standard. Fifty-four certificates were issued in Finland in 2016.
“Future locking systems will be more closely integrated into data systems, which is why it’s important for specialist companies in the security industry to strengthen their data protection systems,” says Peter Östman, MP, Chair of the Finnish Security Contractors Association.
“The ISO 27001 standard supports our strategy. Abloy’s strengths are longevity, reliability and stability. Strong data security management is part of our expertise in the security industry and one of our customers’ essential requirements,” says Abloy’s CEO Jari Toivanen.
The ISO 27001 certification complements Abloy’s other internationally recognised certifications. The company has had a quality management system certified to the EN ISO 9001 standard since the 1980s and an environmental management system certified according to the EN ISO 14001 standard since the 1990s. In 2009, Abloy’s occupational health and safety management system was certified according to the OHSAS 18001 standard.
