The Northumbrian Water Group comprises of both Essex & Suffolk Water and Northumbrian Water, and provides waste water and sewerage services to the community in the surrounding area, and fresh tap water to over 2.5 million people in UK.

Challenges

 

The Northumbrian Water has over 3,000 rural assets in remote locations that have to be secured to the required standard. Abloy UK and Security solutions providers undertook the installation, fitting over 5,000 units to everything from reservoir hatches to perimeter gates, over a two-year period.  Water facilities are notoriously difficult to secure, with perimeter gates and external cabinets requiring padlocks, while cylinders are used on process distribution and storage facilities.This is why they required following things for the new security system:  

  •  Maintain access to all their areas without the risk of keys being lost 
  •   Restrict access rights to certain areas
  •  High security solution for dispersed sites

 

Solution
