ABLOY ACTIVE - Antimicrobial surface treatment

  

  

Abloy launched its new anti-microbial coating for door handles, pulls and other architectural hardware in 2009. It offers a new solution for preventing hand-to-hand transfer of bacteria, which can help reduce the spread of infections and disease.

  

The coating will typically be used in public buildings such as hospitals, health centres, offices, schools and kindergartens.

  

The bacteria-killing feature was achieved by adding silver to the surface material. This revolutionary surface treatment kills at least 99 % of the most common bacteria and is also effective in combating potentially life-threatening bacteria, such as MRSA.
